Possible Mechanical Problem On American Flight From San Jose, Safely Lands In Texas

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A crew is evaluating a possible mechanical problem on an American Airlines flight that departed from San Jose this morning and safely landed in Texas.

American Airlines flight No. 1318 departed from Mineta San Jose International Airport at 7:16 a.m., according to the airport's website.

The flight's final destination was the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, where it landed safely, airline officials said.

An indicator light in the plane's cockpit showed there was a possible mechanical issue with landing gear, according to airline officials.

A maintenance team is evaluating the plane, a Boeing MD-80, airline officials said.
