Bird Strike Forces Denver-To-SFO Plane Back To Airport
DENVER (CBS SF) -- A bird strike forced a Denver-to-San Francisco passenger jet to land back at Denver International Airport Monday.
Virgin Flight 865 was scheduled to arrive at SFO around 2:30 p.m. but a DIA spokesman said the flight returned immediately after takeoff at about 11:30 a.m. after a possible bird strike.
So far no reports of passenger injuries or damage to the plane, which landed safely back at DIA.
A couple who was seated in first class said they heard and felt something they thought it was turbulence, but then the pilot made an announcement that the plane was turning around due to a bird strike, according to KCNC-TV in Denver.
The airline was working to get passengers to their destinations on other flights on Monday afternoon.
