Possible Apple Car Facilities Being Named After Greek Gods

SANTA CLARA (KCBS) – Apple has reportedly purchased several buildings in San Jose, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, giving many of them codenames from Greek mythology. The buildings have been rumored to be part of the company's expansion into the automotive field.

By far, the largest of the facilities, is nicknamed "Zeus," a nearly 300,000 square foot factory near eBay in San Jose.

Guards were less than forthcoming, although a car from Cupertino Electrical drove up while we were there. Other facilities have been reportedly named after Rhea, Medusa and Pegasus.

A 10 minute drive away from Zeus is another industrial building reportedly owned by Apple, a former FedEx distribution center in Santa Clara codenamed "Magnolia." There is nothing official, but there is an electric car charging station on site.

Artie Lashbrook, a panhandler, told KCBS he has seen Apple security on site, but no self-driving cars.

Apple had no comment on the facilities. According to the Silicon Valley Business Journal, the Cupertino-based company has purchased at least eight industrial buildings all geared toward developing and testing an electric car.
