Portrait Of House Of Cards 'President' Underwood Sitting In Washington National Gallery

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) -- President Francis J. Underwood is sitting pretty at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington.

A painting of the fictional U.S. chief executive, as portrayed by Kevin Spacey in Netflix's political drama "House of Cards," was to be unveiled Monday night.

The portrait is a joint project between British artist Jonathan Yeo and the Smithsonian museum, Netflix said. It will be on public display from Wednesday through October.

A Yeo portrait depicting Spacey as Shakespeare's Richard III was part of a retrospective of the artist's work at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

In a move that the savvy Underwood would appreciate, the Washington unveiling was timed to the series' fourth-season debut on March 4.
