'Ponch' The Bay Bridge Chase Chihuahua Gets Adopted To New Home

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Ponch, the ten pound Chihuahua that led CHP officers on a chase across the Bay Bridge is going to a new home.

Ponch's owner never stepped forward to claim him after the chase, but hundreds of people from across the country stepped up to try and adopt him from San Francisco Animal Care & Control.

Officials with animal care & control said Ponch loves to run, and the selection came down to several finalists who met the criteria.

"We're happy that Ponch's story has ended with a loving new home," Animal Care & Control Executive Director Virginia Donohue said in a statement.
