Police Raid Gang Hot Spots In Oakland, Antioch & Sacramento; 5 Arrested

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Police in three cities arrested at least five members of a violent West Oakland gang Friday morning.

The Bay Area News Group reports police served search warrants in Oakland, Antioch and Sacramento which lead to the arrests and seizure of guns, drugs and cash.

Among the sites raided was the 2800 block of Filbert Street in Oakland near McClymonds High School, described by Capt. Ersie Joyner III as a "stash pad" for the gang.

There, police arrested one man and found 3 rifles, a 100-round ammunition drum and 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana among other things.

Those arrested Friday morning were previously contacted by Operation Ceasefire, a law enforcement agency that offers gang members the chance to change their lives or face prosecution.

"Some did not adhere and continued with their violent activities, and as promised they were held accountable," Joyner told reporter Harry Harris.
