Teen Driver Hurt In Crash During Police Chase in Castro Valley

CASTRO VALLEY (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash Wednesday evening that occurred following a pursuit of a vehicle near Castro Valley.

The suspect, a juvenile whose name is not being released, was driving a 1994 Acura Integra north on Crow Canyon Road and was being pursued by CHP officers shortly before 7:30 p.m. when the Acura crashed into a Lexus, turned onto northbound Cull Canyon Road, left the roadway and overturned, according to the CHP.

The juvenile was transported to Eden Medical Center with moderate injuries. The 29-year-old woman driving the Lexus did not suffer any injuries, CHP officials said.

The incident is still under investigation. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
