Police Officer Responding To Emergency Call Injured In Los Gatos Crash

LOS GATOS (CBS SF) -- A police officer injured in a collision in Los Gatos while en route to an emergency Monday morning is in stable condition, police said.

Shortly before 9 a.m., officers responded to an emergency call in the first block of University Avenue near the Old Town Los Gatos Shopping Center, according to police.

One of the officers was responding to the scene on a motorcycle and collided with a car on Los Gatos Saratoga Road and University Avenue, police said.

The officer suffered moderate injuries and was transported a hospital, according to police.

The other driver was not injured, police said.

The intersection was closed to traffic heading north and south for about 90 minutes to remove the vehicles and clear debris, police said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

California Highway Patrol officers also responded to the scene, police said.
