Police Officer Has Gun, Badge Stolen While At Richmond Park

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- An officer's loaded gun and badge were stolen Friday morning from the officer's car at a park in Richmond, according to East Bay Regional Park District police.

Park police officers responded at 8:17 a.m. to a report of an auto burglary at Point Isabel Regional Shoreline, police said.

The victim was a law enforcement officer from the Bay Area, but police have not said where the officer worked.

Police said a loaded firearm and badge were stolen from the officer's car, but haven't said whether the car was a marked patrol vehicle, an unmarked department car or a personal vehicle.

It's also unclear whether there was any forced entry into the car.

A representative of the East Bay Regional Park District police was not immediately available to comment.
