Police Find Missing Elderly San Rafael Woman After 3 Hour Search

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) --  Police have located an elderly woman who went missing in San Rafael Tuesday night.

Elizabeth Williams, 81, was last seen in the area of Channing Way in Terra Linda at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

San Rafael Police conducted a thorough search of the area fearing that Williams was endangered due to what her family described as high blood pressure and symptoms of the early stages of dementia, according to police.

The Marin Search and Rescue Team was called to assist due to the steep terrain in the area, and found Williams on a dirt trail at the end of Sterling Way in about half an hour, according to Santa Rosa Police Lt. Dan Fink.

Williams was conscious and alert but had fallen off the trail and into some bushes, Fink said.

She was evaluated by San Rafael Fire officials and was found to be uninjured.

The overall search took about three hours, according to Fink. Williams was released back to her family friends.
