Police, FBI Dig Near Train Tracks In Oakland Homicide Cold Case

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A crew was excavating a site in Oakland Thursday as part of an investigation into a 2004 homicide case.

The FBI said its San Francisco division was assisting the Oakland Police Department and the Alameda County District Attorney's Office with the homicide investigation.

Police and FBI agents were in a cordoned off area in West Oakland around 7th and Maritime. An excavator was seen clearing a spot under trees next to the elevated BART tracks and Union Pacific railroad tracks.

The site is next to a small utility building.
