Police Believe Man Found Dead In Berkeley Apartment Was Murdered

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- A man found dead in a Berkeley apartment on Friday was murdered, a police spokeswoman said Saturday.

Police were dispatched around 11:45 a.m. to a call for a welfare check at an apartment in the 1100 block of Addison Street, according to Berkeley police spokeswoman Jennifer Coats.

Officers arrived at the home and discovered the body of a man in his 50s, Coats said.

His name has not yet been released.

Police said the subsequent investigation into the man's death determined that it was a homicide.

The investigation into the killing is ongoing and no suspect information was available.
