Police Arrest Fmr. UC Berkeley Worker Suspected Of Putting Hidden Camera In Dorm Restroom

BERKELEY (CBS SF) - University police detectives arrested a former University of California at Berkeley employee Thursday on suspicion of more than 24 counts of invasion of privacy, police said.

Police said 49-year-old Joseph Barbir mounted a covert camera inside a restroom in the Unit I residence hall central building between April and early May, recording more than 100 people, according to police.

At least two of the victims were minors, police said.

The camera was discovered May 8, police said.

Barbir allegedly posted signs that redirected victims to that restroom, according to police.
