Police Arrest Suspected Prowler Found Hiding In Fremont Backyard

FREMONT (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a 28 year-old man Thursday on suspicion of prowling and attempted burglary, after they discovered him hiding outside of the Fremont home he was allegedly trying to break into.

At 5:44 p.m., police were dispatched to a home near Plumas Way and Bidwell Drive for a report of a prowler, according to police.

The victim called to report a man who was possibly trying to get into her house from the back yard, police said.

Officers searched the area around the house, but could not locate a suspect and left.

About 30 minutes later, the victim called for officers again, saying the man was back and hiding in her home's shed, police said.

Officers responded with a K-9 dog and searched around the house again, this time locating the suspect.

The suspect refused to comply and was apprehended by officers and the K-9, according to police.

The suspect is a resident of Ripon, police said.

Police did not release his name.
