Police Arrest Suspect In Thursday Fatal Shooting, San Jose's 2nd Homicide Of 2016

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering another man Thursday night in San Jose, a police spokesman said Friday.

Michael Paul Malone was arrested in connection with the homicide in the area of Pinto Drive and Lone Bluff Way, police Officer Albert Morales said.

Officers responded to the area just north of Capitol Expressway at about 9:40 p.m. on a report of a person shot.

Arriving officers located the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Malone fled the scene but was found later Thursday night and taken into custody.

The 25-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Clara County Jail, according to Morales.

The victim's name will not be released until his next of kin is notified, Morales said.

Malone is being held without bail, according to jail records.

The death is considered the city's second homicide so far this year, police said.
