Pleasure Boats Collide On San Francisco Bay; 1 Hurt

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- One person was injured when two pleasure boats collided Sunday morning in San Francisco Bay, a U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman said.

The collision occurred at 9:45 a.m. about one mile south of Ballena Bay off the coast of Alameda Island, Lt. Marcia Medina said.

One boat was larger than the other and the larger boat struck the smaller one, which had a child on board. The child escaped injury.

The occupants of the larger boat may not have seen the smaller boat, Medina said.

The smaller boat took on water until rescuers stabilized it. Both vessels were taken to Jack London Square in Oakland.

Everyone on board was wearing lifejackets, Medina said.
