1 Dead, 1 Injured In Shooting At Pittsburg Supermarket Parking Lot

PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- A man was killed and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries in shooting at a supermarket parking lot in Pittsburg early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Pittsburg police arrived at the parking lot of the Foods Co supermarket on 300 Atlantic Ave. shortly before 3 a.m. and found two gunshot victims, one of them shot in the head.

There was no immediate word from police on the victims' identities. According to police, both victims were Pittsburg residents in their early 20s.

Both victims were taken to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where the man died of his injuries, Pittsburg police said.

Investigators determined the man and woman were walking through the parking lot when a vehicle approached them. A man got out of the vehicle and began arguing with the male victim before shooting both victims, police said.

The gunman fled on foot while the suspect vehicle drove off in the opposite direction, according to police. No arrests have been made and no suspects were identified.

Pittsburg police said investigators were requesting the public's assistance and urged with information about the shooting to please contact the department's tip line at (925) 252-4040.

The killing is the city's 3rd homicide of 2020.
