Pilot Explains Delay After Santa Clara Stowaway Found Aboard Hawaii Flight

SANTA CLARA (CBS ) -- Just hours after a Santa Clara teen stowed away on an airplane to Maui a pilot getting ready to fly that same aircraft told flight control he was delayed while mechanics checked everything out.

Here is what he said:

So we'll let you know when we're ready to push."

Surveillance footage caught 15-year-old Yahya Abdi dropping from the wheel well of the airplane when he landed in Hawaii. He had just miraculously survived a five hour flight.

Once authorities found him, he was hospitalized for two weeks before returning home.
