PG&E Crews Responding To Outages Impacting Thousands Across The Bay Area

SAN RAFAEL (KPIX) - With temperatures climbing into triple-digits, tens of thousands of households and businesses were without power on Friday.

According to Pacific Gas & Electric's outage report, the largest outages were in San Mateo and San Rafael.

As of 6:40 p.m., the utility said 33,868 ratepayers were without power in San Mateo.

"Our preliminary determination is that your outage was caused by an emergency issue," said the utility. PG&E has assigned a crew to assess the outage."

Power was expected to be restored by 9 p.m.

In San Rafael, some 35,207 customers were without power as of 6:30 p.m., according to PG&E. Power was expected to be restored by 9:45 p.m.

The San Rafael Police Department issued a warning for motorists saying to treat dark stop lights as a four way stop.
