PG&E Challenging San Bruno Blast Conviction
San Bruno Mayor Jim Ruane calls the filing procedural as he continues to push for an independent monitor at PG&E.
"We don't need the PUC. The issue with PUC is corruption," Ruane said.
Earlier this month, a federal jury convicted PG&E of six criminal charges—five related to pipeline safety—and one of obstruction of justice in the deadly San Bruno blast.
"We are going to be allowed, as victims going to speak to the judge and tell him our feelings on how this thing should go," Ruane said.
In a filing, the company says one major flaw in the prosecution's case is that prosecutors failed to link the crimes to specific individuals.
In a statement, PG&E says it wants its customers and their families to know they are committed to regaining their trust by acting with integrity.
