Petaluma Authorities Investigate Disturbing Dead Goat Prank

PETALUMA (CBS/AP) -- A gruesome prank has left many Northern California high school students feeling disturbed and upset.

Mark Scott of Petaluma Animal Control says when Petaluma High School students arrived for classes Friday, they saw a dead baby goat strung up at the top of a fence surrounding a ball field.

Scott says his agency is investigating but that no one knows how the 15-pound baby goat died or what purpose -- if any -- the prank served.

Bay Area station KTVU reports that school officials wouldn't comment on the incident but that some students speculate it could have been a senior class prank or the work of a rival school.
