San Jose Mayoral Candidate Fires Campaign Advisor Over Inappropriate Tweets
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A personal Twitter account is likely to blame for costing a communications expert his job as a consultant for a South Bay politician.
Earlier this week, San Jose Inside posted a few of Jay Reed's dirty tweets from last year.
At the time, Reed represented Bullis Charter School in Los Altos, which was in a court battle with the district. In one tweet, he wrote: "Pretty sure my kid is going to get a good education. Her teacher is hot."
In another—he talked about cars giving a certain kind of satisfaction.
He also retweeted a joke about a woman's reaction to lurid behavior on a bus.
After getting some backlash from parents, Reed apologized, and said his tweets were his own views, not his client's. He later deleted his account.
After the screenshots came to light, Reed admitted to San Jose Inside that he didn't tell his newest client, San Jose Supervisor Dave Cortese about the inappropriate tweets.
Cortese's office confirmed Wednesday that Reed had been fired.
