Body Found Under BART Train At Castro Valley Station

CASTRO VALLEY (CBS SF) -- A search for a person reportedly on the BART tracks at the Castro Valley station Monday evening came to a gruesome end when a body was discovered under a train, authorities said.

The discovery triggered major delays in the Dublin/Pleasanton and Daly City directions.

BART sent out an initial alert at 6:24 p.m. saying trains were no longer stopping at the Castro Valley station reportedly because someone had been spotted on the tracks.

Police and firefighters searched the tracks and did not find anyone but later discovered the person under a train. The coroner has been called to the station to investigate the death.

By 8 p.m., BART officials said service had been restored to the Castro Valley station.
