Pedestrian Struck By SUV In Mountain View Succumbs To Injuries

MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- A pedestrian who was struck by an SUV in Mountain View Thursday morning has died, police said.

The collision occurred 6:38 a.m. near the intersection of El Monte Avenue and Marich Way, according to Mountain View police. The woman who was struck by the vehicle was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Northbound El Monte Avenue was closed between Marich Way and El Camino Real following the collision and is expected to remain closed until about 2:30 p.m. while investigations continue.

According to Mountain View police spokesman Sgt. Saul Jaeger, the driver involved in the collision is cooperating with the investigation.

Alcohol and drugs do not seem to be a factor, he said.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office did not immediately have information on the victim.
