Pedestrian Killed By VTA Light Rail Vehicle In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A pedestrian died in a collision involving a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light-rail vehicle this afternoon in San Jose, a VTA
spokeswoman said.

The collision occurred at about 3 p.m. at North Capitol Avenue and Gimelli Way, VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., Childress confirmed that the incident resulted in a fatality.

Childress was not immediately able to say how many people were aboard the VTA vehicle at the time of the collision.

She said VTA service is being affected by the incident and a bus bridge will be established to continue moving passengers along the route.
