Pedestrian Hit, Seriously Injured By Taxi In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a taxi near San Francisco's Van Ness Avenue on Thursday night, police and fire officials said.

The incident was reported at 9:15 p.m. near Van Ness Avenue and Turk Street.

San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said the taxi was heading west on Turk Street and struck a man who was apparently not in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive, Shyy said.

The taxi driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

There was a passenger traveling in the taxi at the time of the crash, Shyy said.
