Suspect In Road Rage Incident Near Stanford Shopping Center Detained

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Officers have detained a possibly armed man connected with a road rage incident near the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto where a department store went under a brief lockdown Tuesday morning, police said.

The suspect brandished what may have been a handgun during a road rage incident in the area, police said shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Officers found the suspect's vehicle at the Nordstrom department store parking lot located near Sand Hill Road between Vineyard Lane and Arboretum Road, police said.

The store was under a lockdown for precautionary reasons until about 11:45 a.m., according to police.

The suspect was found close by at Stanford Hospital as of about 12:40 p.m., police said.

Roads blocked off during the search have reopened, according to police.
