Palo Alto Police Investigate Jewelry Store Robbery At Stanford Shopping Center

PALO ALTO (KCBS) - Palo Alto police are searching for a man and woman caught on video Wednesday robbing a jewelry store in Stanford Shopping Center at gunpoint.

The man entered Gleim the Jeweler on El Camino Real brandishing a gun after an employee had opened a case to show the woman some high-end wristwatches, according to a written statement from police.

The woman loaded about 25 expensive watches into her purse and the two of them ran out the door. Employees called police immediately, but responding officers could not locate the suspects.

Both were armed with semi-automatic handguns. There were no other customers in the store during the robbery.

Police described the suspects as a black man between 35 and 40 years old with a medium build and beard, and a black woman around 30 years old with a thin build and shoulder-length wavy hair that might have been a wig.

Police say the man was wearing a long-sleeved navy-colored jumpsuit with an elastic mask around his neck and a white ACE hardware cap with a red brim, and the woman was wearing a US Postal Service vest over a white t-shirt and dark pants and carrying an over-sized purse with a flower design.
