Pair Of Powerful 6.9 Magnitude Earthquakes Hit Chile

CHILE (CBS SF) -- A pair of powerful earthquakes struck Chile Tuesday, but did not create a tsunami threat, according to the USGS.

The magnitude 6.9 earthquakes struck Tuesday afternoon off Chile's coast.

The first quake struck shortly before 11 p.m. local time, with the second quake following about an hour later.

No injuries, or damage were initially reported.
