Pair Of New SF Chefs Named Among Nations's Best

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Two San Francisco chefs have made Food and Wine magazine's annual list of "Best New Chefs."

Ravi Kapur of Liholiho Yacht Club, and David Barzelay of Lazy Bear were both among the 11 chefs nationwide who were recognized by the magazine.

Kapur, born in Hawaii, uses a lot of island influences at his restaurant on Sutter Street, which is also a finalist for Best New Restaurant in the Country from the James Beard Foundation.

Barzelay's restaurant Aspirations, like Kapur's, started as a pop-up.  Lazy Bear in the Mission is one of the few restaurants in the Bay Area using a ticketing system for restaurants.

Last year, the Bay Area was shut out in Food and Wine's annual list.
