Pacifica Little League Team Falls Just Short Of World Series Trip

PACIFICA (CBS SF) - A team of young baseball players from Pacifica fell a game short of advancing to the Little League World Series over the weekend.

The Pacifica American Little League team traveled to San Bernardino in Southern California, where they lost 11-2 in the West Region Championship on Saturday to Mountain Ridge, a Little League team from Las Vegas.

Pacifica's squad was the Northern California champion and would have advanced to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with a win on Saturday.

Instead, Mountain Ridge became the first Little League team from Nevada to participate in the World Series after putting up nine runs in the first inning against Pacifica.

This was the second year in a row that a Peninsula-based squad advanced to the West Region final. A team from Belmont-Redwood Shores reached the same stage last year but also lost in the regional championship.
