Overturned Big Rig Blocks 4 Lanes Of Traffic On Highway 101 Near San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL (KCBS) — An overturned big rig blocked all but the left lane of southbound Highway 101 past central San Rafael Monday morning before being cleared.

The accident happened at around 10:40 a.m. when the rig, carrying wrecked cars, ended up on its side blocking four lanes.

Cars and trucks were able to get past the scene of the accident, but were doing so in a single file.

No injuries were reported.

The big rig was cleared shortly after 1 p.m. after blocking the highway for almost three hours.

At its peak, the backup from the accident extended to Alameda Del Prado. Motorists were suggested to use Highway 37 over to Interstate 80 as an alternative.
