Overturned Big Rig Spills 1,500 Gallons Of Paint In Marin County

(CBS SF) -- Lucas Valley Road in Marin County is expected to be closed until around 10 p.m. after a big-rig overturned and spilled an estimated 1,500 gallons of paint Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred near Westgate Drive southwest of Novato around 6:25 a.m. Marin County sheriff's officials initially reported 14,000 gallons of paint spilled, but the CHP determined the big-rig's entire cargo did not spill.

Large trucks to clean up the mess are blocking the entire road, according to the CHP. Members of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife also responded to the scene.

The incident required a full hazardous materials response, according to the sheriff's office.
