Oscar Grant's Family In Ferguson To Support Michael Brown's Family

OAKLAND (CBS / AP) -- The family of Oscar Grant has traveled to Ferguson, Missouri to offer support and advice to the parents of a black teen whose slaying at the hands of police ignited unrest.

Grant's uncle, Cephus Johnson, said he and his wife participated in several demonstrations with Michael Brown's parents last week in Ferguson and will be traveling back there to attend Brown's funeral on Monday at his parents' request.

Brown and Grant -- both black -- were shot and killed by white police officers. Their deaths sparked national outrage and protests.

Grant was fatally shot by a transit officer at an Oakland train station on New Year's Day 2009. Grant's life and the shooting were depicted in the 2013 film, "Fruitvale Station."

Johnson said he told Brown's family to be prepared for a long journey as they seek justice.
