Optimist Club Members Raise Thousands To Help San Leandro Charity Provide Christmas Gifts
SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- The treasurer of San Leandro's 'Optimist Club' raised thousands of dollars to make sure hundreds of kids will have a merry Christmas this season.
A story about the need for toy donations at the Davis Street Family Resource Center prompted the treasurer to jump into action.
The drive was 1,800 toys short until the club raised $5,000 in a matter of hours.
The club members say they will work to ensure the Davis Street group won't run short again next year.
