1 Wounded In Early-Morning Shooting In San Rafael's Canal Neighborhood

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- One person shot in San Rafael's Canal neighborhood early Sunday morning is expected to survive, a police corporal said.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired with people fighting in the area of Canal and Fairfax streets around 3:30 a.m., San Rafael police Cpl. Justin Graham said.

Arriving officers found a gunshot victim in the middle of the block on Novato Street, the next road south of Fairfax Street, Graham said.

The victim suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was transported to a hospital, he said.

Officers searched the area for suspects without success but did locate evidence related to the shooting, according to Graham.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning, he said.
