At Least One Person Dead In Aptos Shooting

APTOS (CBS SF) -- One person is dead and two others were seriously hurt in a shooting in Aptos, according to the Santa Cruz Sheriff Department.

The shooting happened just after 4 p.m. on Trout Glutch Road, a mountainous area. Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputies are calling this a "major incident."

When deputies arrived to the residence after receiving calls, they found three victims. The sheriff's office confirmed that one person was dead at the scene.

The other two were transported to a local hospital. Two of the individuals had gun shot wounds and the other had wounds from a knife.

The sheriff's office said there is a connection between all three of the individuals and investigators are looking into their relationship.

So far there is no word on how many victims were shot or if authorities have made any arrests, but authorities said that there is no outstanding threat to the community. They also said that this case doesn't appear to be a murder-suicide.

The investigation is just beginning and they are awaiting search warrants.
