Ohio Teen Accused Of Calling In Bomb Threat To Santa Cruz-Area High School

FELTON (CBS SF) -- A bomb threat phoned in to San Lorenzo Valley High School Wednesday turned out to be a prank from a teen in Ohio, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the high school received a voice message Wednesday stating a bomb would blow up Friday at the school.

There was no other threat, but investigators said laughter could be heard in the background of the message.

Investigators were able to trace the call to a 14-year-old in Cincinnati, who admitted to making the threat and said he had made several prank calls to local businesses in the Santa Cruz area.

Deputies said the school was open Friday, and the investigation has been forwarded to the Juvenile Probation Department for review.
