On his Kickstarter page, Brown described what he was doing "I'm making potato salad. Basically I'm just making potato salad. I haven't decided what kind yet."

Within a week, Brown received over 3,400 worldwide backers. He ended up making over $37,000. Currently, Brown has over 3,900 backers and over $50,000 pledged.

The 31-year old software company co-owner told The Columbus Dispatch he did it for the "pure enjoyment and silliness of life." Now he plans on throwing a huge public party with the money.
