Suspect Surrenders After Antioch Police Officer Shot In Pittsburg

PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- An officer with the Antioch Police Department was injured in a shooting in Pittsburg this evening, according to police.

The shooting occurred in the vicinity of Loveridge and Leland roads just after 6 p.m., according to Pittsburg police Capt. Ron Raman.

Antioch police spokesman Steve Duran confirmed via email that the officer was from Antioch, and the wounds are not considered life-threatening.

A dispatcher for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said that four ambulances had been sent to the scene.

The intersection will be closed temporarily due to the ongoing investigation. Raman said additional information would be released by the
Antioch Police Department.

A suspect surrendered and was taken into police custody.
