1 Dead In Pleasanton Officer-Involved Shooting
PLEASANTON (KPIX 5) -- Police in Pleasanton were involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m.
Police said the incident began with a 911 call for a family disturbance from a residence on Burgundy Drive, around 11:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, the situation quickly escalated. Police said that, as three officers approached the home, the garage door began to open. Standing inside was a man holding a firearm.
"A male subject advanced on officers pointing a firearm at them," said Pleasanton police Lt. Maria Munayer.
An officer fired, hitting the suspect who died from those injuries at the scene.
According to one witness, five or six shots were fired.
"This is very unusual for this neighborhood and this is an isolated incident, it's not involved with any other incidents that occurred on Burgundy Drive," said Munayer.
"Pleasanton is a very safe community. We're not concerned about any other violence stemming from this incident or any other incidents," said Munayer.
No one inside the home was hurt and none of the officers was injured. The Alameda County District Attorney's office and the Pleasanton police department were conducting parallel investigations.
There was noo word as to whether or not the officers were wearing body cameras.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office is investigating the shooting and the officer, whose name was not released, is expected to be placed on administrative leave.
