SARATOGA (CBS SF) -- An investigation has been launched into an officer-involved shooting in Saratoga Monday night, according to a spokesman for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sgt. James Jensen confirmed that the shooting occurred at 7:49 p.m. near the intersection of Prospect Road and Titus Avenue earlier in the evening.

Jensen said the shooting involved a sheriff's deputy and said standard protocols for officer-involved shooting are being followed.

One person was shot, and their condition was not known. No deputies were injured in the shooting, Jensen said.

"These types of incidents demonstrate how inherently dangerous the jobs of our deputies are." Jensen said.
