Eyeing Move, Raiders Scout Sites For Reno Training Camp

RENO (CBS / AP) -- Officials who want to bring the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas are getting northern Nevada lawmakers up to speed on their plans and scouting sites for a potential training camp.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Raiders executives met with legislators on Wednesday to explain their proposal, which calls for $750 million in public funding.

Lawmakers would have to approve any plan to raise hotel room taxes to finance the venue.

Critics say stadium backers at the Las Vegas Sands casino company and Majestic Realty are asking too much of the public. But Republican Assemblywoman Jill Dickman said Wednesday's meeting made her feel better about the deal.

Sands executive Andy Abboud told the newspaper that Raiders officials also scouted out Reno-area locations as potential sites for a training camp.
