Oakland Police Tase, Fire Shots, Then Arrest Suspect Who Threatened Them With Golf Clubs

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man was taken into custody Saturday morning in Oakland following an altercation with police that led to shots being fired by officers, a police spokeswoman said.

Police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said the incident occurred just after midnight in the 2100 block of Seventh Street.

Officers Tased and then fired shots after a man armed with several golf clubs came toward an officer, Watson said.

The man was not shot and was not injured during the altercation.

There were no injuries to officers.

The man, who police described as mentally disturbed, was taken into custody.

Police have not identified the man.
