Oakland Market Fire Destroys $100K In Products, Investigated As Arson

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Firefighters put out a one-alarm fire at a market being investigated as arson in the city's Eastmont neighborhood Tuesday morning, a fire dispatcher said.

Fire crews responded to a report of the fire in the 8100 block of MacArthur Boulevard near 82nd Avenue around 2:50 a.m., the fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters found two sets of fires inside the market, in the front and back, and were investigating the fire as arson.

An estimated $100,000 in products were destroyed in the fire.

The fire did not spread to any other structures and was under control by about 3:20 a.m., according to the dispatcher.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
