Oakland Man Who Allegedly Ditched Injured Daughter In Car Accident Surrenders To Police

OAKLAND (CBS/AP) — Authorities say a 29-year-old Oakland man who allegedly crashed his car during a police chase and left behind his injured 6-year-old daughter has surrendered.

The Oakland Tribune reports Monday that Kelvin Govan surrendered Sunday after police received tips from community members.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Govan after police said he refused to stop last Thursday near the San Leandro-Oakland border.

After crashing his car, Govan escaped by running through yard, according to police.

A man in his car was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.

Govan's daughter was taken to a hospital with a head wound that required surgery. She is expected to recover.

It was not immediately known Monday what charges Govan now faces.
