Oakland Man Found In Allegedly Stolen Mercedes Arrested For Belmont Dealership Theft

BELMONT (CBS SF) -- A 24-year-old Oakland man was arrested in connection with stealing a car from a Belmont auto dealership last Sunday, Belmont police said.

Jeremy Redwood was arrested on Wednesday night when he was found with a 2013 Mercedes ML350, one of eight cars stolen from Autobahn Motors, according to police.

The theft occurred on Sept. 21 sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. at the dealership at 700 Island Parkway, police said.

On Tuesday, six of the eight vehicles were found abandoned in Oakland, police said.

Belmont police investigators learned one of the missing cars was in the area of 19th Avenue in Oakland on Wednesday, according to police.

The information was passed to California Highway Patrol officers who found the Mercedes and arrested Redwood.

He was booked into Alameda County Jail on multiple charges including auto theft, possession of stolen property and violation of probation.
