Oakland Man Arrested In Nevada For Half Moon Bay Carjacking

HALF MOON BAY (CBS SF) -- An Oakland man has been arrested in Nevada in connection with a carjacking case out of Half Moon Bay, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Armando Mendoza, 20, was arrested by the Winnemucca Police Department on July 25 on a warrant for carjacking and has been extradited back to San Mateo County, sheriff's office officials said in a statement.

Mendoza was allegedly involved in a Jan. 9 carjacking in the parking lot of the Hilltop Mobile Home Park in Half Moon Bay.

The victim told investigators a man, later identified as Mendoza, got into her car and forced her to drive him to San Mateo, where he got out of the car and ran away, officials said.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Mendoza is also considered a suspect in the theft of a vehicle from Oakland the previous night, officials said.
