Oakland A's Minor League Pitcher Critically Injured In NY Shooting

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) -- An Oakland Athletics minor leaguer is fighting for his life after he was shot in a fast-food parking lot in New York.

The Journal News reports that 23-year-old Mike Nolan remains in critical condition after surgery Saturday at a New York City hospital.

Nolan was shot multiple times early Friday in the parking lot of a Burger King restaurant just outside the city in Yonkers. Police have made no arrests.

Nolan played collegiately at Oklahoma City University. Oakland selected the left-handed pitcher in the 18th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft and he has been playing with the Arizona League Athletics.

Nolan graduated from a high school in Yonkers.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano asked residents to pray for "one of our own" during this difficult time.
