Number One NFL Draft Pick Jared Goff Got Start At Marin Catholic

BERKELEY (KPIX 5) -- A Bay Area native has been named the number one overall pick in Thursday night's NFL Draft in Chicago.

Marin-born former Cal star Jared Goff could be headed to play with the Rams.

"We saw Jared play early on in high school, and never in our wildest dreams we thought that he'd get this far. We knew that he had something special," Jared's Uncle Bob Panacci said.

Before Goff made his mark at Cal, the gridiron at Marin Catholic was his turn.

"You could put a ping pong paddle in Jared's hand, and he's going to beat you at it, I guarantee it. I don't care what kind of sport it may be, from tiddlywinks to football. He's very competitive," Jared's former teacher Larry Gondola said.

Jared was voted most athletic in his senior year, playing football, basketball, and baseball.

"With this kid, all the checks are in the right spot, and they're all on the good side. You're not going to find checks on the bad side," Gondola said.
